📨 Send CBT Renewal Reminders

The CBT Renewal Reminders feature helps you automatically notify riders when their CBT certificate is about to expire.

A Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) certificate is valid for two years. Riders must renew their CBT before it expires to continue riding legally. With Connect Pro, you can send automated reminders to riders whose CBT renewal is due soon. This not only helps riders stay compliant but also creates repeat business opportunities for your school.

ow it works

  • Renewal reminders are calculated from the order date of the rider’s CBT.

  • Connect automatically checks when a rider is 1 month away from renewal and sends a reminder.

  • Reminders are sent via email and/or SMS, depending on your settings.

  • Default templates are provided by Connect and link riders directly to your own booking widget.

  • You can edit the template content to reflect your school’s voice.

Setup steps

  1. Go to Communication → CBT Renewal.
  2. Review the default Email and SMS templates provided.

    • Edit them if you want to adjust tone, branding, or links.

  3. Toggle the Renewal Reminder feature ON.

  4. If using SMS, make sure you have enough SMS credits topped up.

  5. Once enabled, Connect will automatically handle the sending for you.

Prerequisites

  • You must be on a Connect Pro plan.

  • You need SMS credits if you plan to send SMS reminders (each SMS costs 6p).

  • CBT orders must be in Connect for the customer (order date is used to calculate renewal)

What happens next

  • Riders will receive an email and/or SMS reminder one month before their CBT renewal is due.

  • All messages are logged in the rider’s Contact → Communication Log.

  • SMS reminders will only send if you have credits available; if credits run out, messages will not be sent.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

Q: Can I customise the reminder content?
A: Yes. Templates are pre-set for all schools but can be edited in Communication → CBT Renewal.

Q: How are recipients selected?
A: Based on the order date of the CBT in Connect. Riders whose order date indicates their CBT is 1 month from expiry are automatically contacted.

Q: Do I need to send these manually?
A: No. Once the toggle is ON, Connect manages everything automatically.

Q: What if I run out of SMS credits?
A: SMS reminders will not send until you top up credits. Emails will continue to send.

Q: Where do riders get directed?
A: Default templates link riders back to your school’s booking widget so they can rebook directly.
